So here’s this non-turbo Forester with rally wheels and BFG KO2s. I’m sure the safari rack is used to carry many cases of vape juice,
flat brimmed hats, and/or
minimalist trail running shoes.
Fun fact: based on my totally unscientific observations, New York plates are the most common non-local
plates in
the DC area.

The dealer here has several new ones on the lot done up like that.
I actually see them all over the trails in the SFNF when I’m out hiking. I’m guessing they might not get as much use in the DC area.

That actually looks really good with those knobby tires.

They insult my sense of aesthetics.

There are lots of parks and nature things around here but they usually have readily accessible parking lots.
The vast majority of modified off-roady looking stuff around here are pavement queen bro’d out Wrangler s.

I always wanted those tires on the Galant. I would have needed coil overs first, but I never had the 1400 bucks the whole deal would cost.

ARGHABLARGAFARG is the sound I make when I have a roof rack-induced aneurysm .

You insult my sense of aesthetic, because I like they way roof racks look

But look how cute the little brown Fiat is with its little roof rack!

Your study is flawed. The most common, non-local plates are from Pennsylvania, which is apparently a state near Maryland.
My old neighbor had a lifted WRX hatch. Huge tires, Forrester suspension, roof basket. He caught it on fire one night in the parking lot when a can of PB Blaster fell on the hot manifold, so it didn’t have AC because that was what burned up. He had it tuned and it was putting down something like 400hp. It was the loudest car I have ever lived near. Nice guy though, and he also had a couple old Datsuns.

I did say my observations were totally unscientific.

Make strut spacers, remove sway bars. Instant lift.

On top of the bonfire started with the roof racks for kindling.

I wonder if “STAGGERING” on a plate is probable
cause
![]() 09/24/2018 at 12:51 |

It wasn’t fender clearance problems it was the spring perches. The stock springs were like 6-8 inches wide, so The perches hung over the tires, and were only about half an in above the tire. So I would have needed skinnier coil overs that didn’t hang over the tire.

Ah, makes sense.
Same issue I have with lifting the front of the van.

Unpopular opinion, that is as bad as a lifted bro dowser or #J eeplife. 10 to 1 it will never see anything worse than a gravel road.
K nobby ass tires that sound like a hurricane going down the road and a Roof Rack for all the Hot Air he needs to carry.

No worries, I didn’t take it that way. Look, a PA plate on my way to work this morning!
(I still think I see more NY but it could just be that those are more noticeable with their yellow background.)

I could be missing the NY plates by confusing them with the yellow VA plates too.
